| | Bad Cat Toy's 1:72 scale aircraft are pre-assembled, painted, and ready to go right out of the box. A scale airplane of this size is 1/72nd of the original warbird. Take the P-51 Mustang for instance, it will have a wingspan of about 6 inches scaled to 1:72. A larger aircraft, like the B-17 Flying Fortress, has a wingspan of 17 inches. We carry zinc alloy airplanes and helicopters made by MRC, IXO Diecast, Witty Wings, Dragon Models, Corgi, Gemini Warbirds, Hobby Master and Forces of Valor.
Metal or plastic, tough decision. Diecast metal aircraft have traditionally been the favorties among collectors. Metal is viewed favorably in terms of quality and durability. Collectors also like the heft of metal when holding the pieces in their hands.Plastic, on the other hand, can be produced cheaper than metal when made in large quantities. Plastic 1:72 aircraft are typically cheaper than their metal counterparts. Another plus is that plastic allows for more detail than a comparable metal piece. Injection molding technology allows for finer panel lines, rivit details, and accurate instrument panels. When placed on a shelf, it is difficult to tell the difference between plastic and diecast in this scale.
